2009 ING New York City Marathon

NYC Marathon - New York City Marathon | Coca-Cola

Sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and inspired by the fight against cancer, Coca-Cola employees and friends laced up their running shoes and stepped up to the challenge of competing in the ING New York City Marathon on November 1st. Wearing the signature orange-and-blue uniform, Fred's Team raised $2.6 million and counting in support of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Each runner has personally experienced the impact cancer has had on those around them. Drawing inspiration from their personal experiences, these runners gained momentum from their family, friends, Coca-Cola and Fred's Team, to help fund cancer research while encouraging physical activity and community involvement. For Fred's Team, the race against cancer began in 1992, by Fred Lebow, running legend and creator of the most celebrated marathon in New York City. After undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and interacting with pediatric cancer patients, Fred began encouraging friends and relatives to sponsor their runs and raise money for the center's research. Fred's Team has raised over $35 million since its inception. Congratulations and thank you to our Coca-Cola sponsored runners and all 700 runners on Fred’s Team, who participated in the race against cancer. Visit the link below for more information. You can click on each runner’s profile to learn more about their personal story and visit their profiles to see how they did in the race.
