Twenty inspiring Coca-Cola U.S. Torchbearers gathered together in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on January 18 and 19 for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
These special individuals include 10 teens, five leaders from national health organizations and three CCNA associates. Also joining the Torchbearers were Olympic gold medalists Shawn Johnson and Steven Lopez, who are part of the Coca-Cola "Six Pack" of Olympic athletes. Both Olympians competed and earned medals in the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing.
"Coca-Cola selected these remarkable people for the tireless work they have done to make a positive impact in our communities," said Celeste Bottorff, vice president of Living Well, CCNA, who was in Calgary cheering on the Torchbearers. "To follow their individual journeys to Calgary and then see them carry the Olympic Flame firsthand was truly awe-inspiring."
The Torchbearers carried the Olympic Flame through Calgary, Alberta, on January 18-19, as it continued its way to Vancouver and the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games on February 12.
