Timothy Alford, M.D., is President of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has practiced family medicine for 25 years.
Dr. Alford encourages his patients to exercise regularly as many Mississippi communities struggle with obesity. Dr. Alford practices what he preaches by running each morning. Averaging 30 miles per week for the past 32 years, he has totaled 48 thousand miles, or two trips around the world.
Dr. Alford helped establish a Rural Health Scholars Program that encourages students to become a primary care physician. He was recently elected President-Elect of the Mississippi State Medical Association.
