To fight the growing rates of childhood obesity and low funding of physical education programs, Trish created a program called "Making Strides with Kids". This outreach program introduced elementary age kids to the sport of running.
The kids participate in regular physical activity and also get educational sessions each week on nutrition, goal setting and hydration. Trish received two grants for her program providing funding for running shoes, clothing, and medallions for each of the participating children. Ninety kids participated in the five-week program, improving their collective mile time by 191 minutes.
