Apolo Ohno is poised to become the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian in history at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada. A two-time Olympian, Apolo won gold and silver medals at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and then made history at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino by winning a gold and two bronze medals, tying the record for most number of medals won by a U.S. winter male Olympian. He is only one of four Americans who have won three medals in a single Winter Olympics.
Apolo started speedskating at the age of 12 and, in less than two years, become the best short track skater in the U.S. At age 14, Ohno claimed his first overall title at the U.S. Championships.
Apolo is active in several children-related charities, including Ronald McDonald House.
