There are literally hundreds of running shoes to choose from when purchasing running shoes. The purpose of running shoes is to protect your feet from the road and to absorb the tremendous shock they will experience. Running shoes are not perfect for everyone because every runner runs differently and has their own running style. Your foot shape, biomechanics, and cushioning will determine which shoe is best for you.

In order to check your foot, you should stand up and place equal weight on both feet. Look at your arches, and see if they almost touch the floor. If they do, you have low arches. It is characterized by over pronation, in which the foot rolls inward. If you have a high arch, you have the opposite condition called suspiration. It occurs when the foot rolls to the outside. A neutral runner has an arch that is in the middle.

Take an old pair of running shoes and examine the forefoot to determine if your arch is high, low, or neutral. If it is worn on the outside of the shoe, you supin. If the wear pattern is on the inside of the shoe, you are a pronator. If you have an even forefoot wear pattern, your foot is neutral.

Foam runners: what are they?

As Kanye West's daughter North West first wore the Yeezy Foam Runner in 2019, the clog-like silhouette immediately sent the sneaker world into frenzy due to its similarity to the Croc.
