The International Women’s Entrepreneurs Day was celebrated on November 19. The day was established in 2015 by the United Nations to celebrate the achievements of women entrepreneurs and to encourage more women to start their own businesses.

1. Show your appreciation

Female business owners go through a lot just to start and maintain their businesses. You may use this opportunity to support the International Women’s Entrepreneurs Day. You can congratulate women entrepreneurs you may know, either in person or through social media.

You can also help by sharing their business posts on your socials. This will help market their products and services and make them feel as if you value their businesses.

2. Visit a female led health team

Menstrual cycles, hormonal changes, as well as life events like pregnancy and menopause, are just a few of the processes that women’s bodies go through.

To keep you comfortable and healthy during these transitions, women-led health teams may offer advice and be able to address the issues with you.

Good examples of women-led health teams include:

  • https://www.thewomenshealth.clinic/ staffed by female nurses only, this London based clinic offers services such as vaginal rejuvenation, anti-ageing, body reshaping to general wellbeing and much more.
  • https://www.metrochiro.com.au/ has a clinical interest in women’s health, including through chiropractic care and by addressing a range of musculoskeletal health issues such as postural pain and back pain, lower back pain due to menstrual cycles, prenatal and postnatal musculoskeletal condition and more.
  • https://www.cedars-sinai.org/programs/womens-health.html have a focus on obstetrics and gynecology, where patients receive personalised care from a team of women’s health specialists.

3. Start your own business

As a woman, the International Women’s Entrepreneurs Day offers publicity that you may use to launch your business. Here are some tips to start your own business:

  • come up with a business plan
  • do some research on your competitors
  • study finances and pricing as well as capital
  • create a brand identity
  • get to know your target market
  • look into good customer service.

Make sure you have a solid idea and everything ready before launching it. People you meet with the same cause might even serve as your network.

4. Be an advocate or ally for gender equality in the workplace

Gender inequality is a global issue that is prevalent in all aspects of life. It has been found that women are still paid less than men for the same work. This is not just a problem in the workplace, it’s also an issue in politics, education, and healthcare. Gender equality should be advocated for at every level of society to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities and rights.

Gender equality is a concept that can be used to describe fairness in the workplace. The idea of gender equality is not just about equal pay for equal work, it is also about access to resources and opportunities.

There are many ways to advocate for gender equality in the workplace. One way can be by being a part of an organisation or company that promotes gender equality such as LeanIn or Girls Who Code. Another way would be to speak up when you see something happening in your workplace that is not fair such as unequal pay or unequal opportunity for promotions.

Wrap up

Suffice it to say, we have a long way to go when it comes to gender. However, the good news is that you are not alone. As a community, there are ways to support women. One of these is through the International Women’s Entrepreneurs Day.

Hopefully, the support does not start and stop with this annual event. Let’s support one another in the years to come!
