Clearing the cache will NOT delete any photos from your computer, device, or Verizon Cloud. This action would necessitate a deletion.

The only thing that will be deleted once the cache is cleared is the data files that are temporarily stored in your device's memory.

I hope my brief response was helpful. If not, please return and I will elaborate.

What Is Verizon Cloud

Verizon Cloud is a service that stores your files in the cloud wirelessly. During the transfer, files are encrypted and securely stored. You can use them on all of your devices, including phones, computers, and tablets, at any time.

What’s it cost?

While Verizon Cloud storage for contacts is free, 1 TB of storage costs $9.99 per month and 500 GB of storage costs $5 per month after a free one-month trial.

  • If you have an iPhone, you are most likely using iCloud backup. When you sign up for iCloud, you receive 5GB of free storage. You can upgrade to a larger storage plan if you require more space.
  • If you have an Android phone, Google will give you the first 15 GB of storage space per month for free. and 1 TB of cloud storage for only $10 per month.

We like free....so if you are savvy — and we know you are!! — and owning an Android or iPhone device, you can get more services for free than Verizon iCloud provides.

What is cached data?

With each app launch or website visit, information is exchanged.

The user receives content in exchange for location information, device information, browser information, time spent on pages, and other user behaviors.

There are also cached data.

Word online is it makes no difference whether you use laptops, tablets, or smartphones. All of our devices have some reserved space for storing this type of data for easy access.

Caching is the practice of storing cache data or cache files as history on a phone or web browser in order to improve the user experience on subsequent visits to a website or app.

What is cached data on my phone?

Cached data are files, scripts, images, and other multimedia that are stored on your device after you first open an app or visit a website. This information is then used to quickly gather information about the app or website whenever it is visited, reducing load time.

How does cached data work?

There must be enough memory or storage space on your device for cached data to be stored for re-access. On a more technical level, the cache is very high up in the computer memory hierarchy. For your convenience, here is a diagram of this hierarchy:

There are a few levels of cache memory visible just below the CPU register - the small building blocks of the computer processor.

  • The primary level of cache developed into the microprocessing chip is known as L1.
  • L2 and L3, also known as levels 2 and 3, are the secondary cache levels that feed the L1. It is nanoseconds slower than L1.

Cache memory has a very low latency, which means it can be accessed quickly. You can put this to the test by opening a new app or visiting a website you've never visited before, then returning to compare the speeds.

The disadvantage of low latency is that not much memory can be stored. This is why small files, such as web text and images, are cached.

Is cached data important?

Because cached data is only considered "temporary storage," it isn't inherently important. It does, however, exist to improve the user experience.

Videos, images, and even text take some time to load on the page. When this data is cached, we can reopen the app or return to the page with confidence that it will not take nearly as long.

Cache memory saves states as well. For example, if I close and reopen my Twitter app in 10 minutes, I'll be able to scroll down and see posts that were previously loaded. Everything would have to be reloaded if the cache was not present. You can remove the cache from specific websites while leaving others alone, which is especially useful if you manage multiple sites.

What Happens When You Clear Data for Cloud Storage Services (Google Drive, OneDrive) Apps

Cloud storage apps, such as Verizon Cloud, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox, save your files in the cloud. As a result, clearing data on your Android phone will not remove the files associated with these services. After clearing the data, you will be logged out of the app. Signing in again will restore the files.
